Dawn Wayne Markwood

Dawn Wayne Markwood departed from this life to be with the Lord on April 22, 2018. He was the son of the late James Orlando Jerry Markwood and Rosalie Simmons Alt. Dawn was born in Petersburg, West Virginia on February 21, 1940. He leaves behind Barbara Anne, his devoted wife, friend and life-long companion for 57 years; two sons -- Tim Markwood and his wife Priscilla and daughter Maddie who lives in Wilmington, Delaware, Jay Markwood and his daughter Phoebe and his son Josh who live in Mclean, Virginia. He also leaves behind many wonderful friends. Dawn graduated from Petersburg High School and also from George Mason University where he received a Bachelor of Science in Education. He was employed by US Air as the Assistant Director of Revenue Accounting for 26 years then retired and taught in the Fairfax Public School System as a Business Education teacher for 13 years. Dawn and Barbara both retired and moved back to their beloved mountains of West Virginia in 2003. He loved being in the outdoors and was an avid hunter. He and Barbara enjoyed spending the summers at their home on the lake located in Mt Storm where they entertained family and friends. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, June 16, 2018 at the Moorefield Presbyterian Church, 109 South Main Street, Moorefield, WV with Pastor Jim Yao as officiant, assisted by Pastor Michael Funkhouser. The family will receive friends from 10:30 AM until time of services at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Moorefield Presbyterian Church in his memory, P. O.
