Nellie Magdalene Sions

Nellie Magdalene Haggerty Sions, age 89 of Hare Lane, Purgitsville, WV passed away Wednesday evening, March 22, 2017 at her residence with her family at her side. Born on December 1, 1927 in Purgitsville, WV, she was a daughter of the late George Edward Haggerty and Eliza Rebecca (Shoemaker) Haggerty. Her husband of 56 years whom she married on April 12, 1943, Edgar Franklin Sions preceded her in death in February 2000. A grandson, Andy Dude Sions, II, two great-grandsons, Kyle Helmick & Damien Phares, a great-granddaughter, Autym Wilt, a brother, Stanley Haggerty and sisters, Mary Alice Haggerty & Laura Haggerty Kesner also preceded her in death. She was the last member of her immediate family. Nellie enjoyed reading, her large family, gardening and was an accomplished seamstress as she made her daughters clothes without the use of patterns when they were growing up. Surviving are three sons, Leroy & Henrietta Sions, Randy & Brandi Sions and Andy & Kellie Sions all of Purgitsville, WV; six daughters, Elaine & Michael Stickley, Norma & Keith Markwood, Linda & Ronnie Markwood, Anita & Robert Eye and Annette & Larry Ours all of Purgitsville, WV and Esther & Neil Messenger of Clarksburg, WV; 32 grandchildren; 76 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be conducted 2:00 PM Sunday, March 26, 2017 at the Fraley Funeral Home Chapel, 107 Washington Street with Pastors Judy Vetter & Andy Sions officiating. Interment will follow at the Mt. View Church Cemetery, Mountain View & Huffman Roads, Purgitsville, WV. The family will receive friends from 4 8 PM Saturday at the funeral home.
