Archie Calvin Benson

Archie Calvin Benson, age 68 of Rig Road, Moorefield, WV formerly of Kansas City, MO passed away Sunday evening, December 31, 2017 at the Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg, WV. Born on February 21, 1949 in Yuma, AZ, he was a son of the late Archie Overton Benson and Berta Kathleen Smith Benson. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Jesse Allen Benson, and his sister, Sally Ann Colbert. Archiee was a U.S. Navy and a U.S. Army veteran and retired from the National Weather Service where he was a balloon tender for weather balloons. He enjoyed reading, was a mild history buff, enjoyed hunting in his younger days and enjoyed watching the Kansas City Royals whenever he could find them on TV. Surviving are three sisters, Patricia Sargent with whom he resided near Moorefield, Shirley Ruth Barber of Yuma, AZ and Sherrie Benson of Kansas City, MO; two brothers, Sidney Mark Benson of Timberon, NM and Roland Rusty Benson of Yuma, AZ and numerous nieces and nephews. Archie has been cremated and his cremains will be scattered in the mountains of Arizona at a later date.
