Betty Baye Alt, of Moorefield, WV, gracefully concluded her earthly journey on January 20, 2024, at the age of 87. Betty was born on January 24, 1936, in Moorefield, WV, to the proud parents Burley Baker Runions, Sr. and Molly Ellen Riggleman Runions. Her husband, Ralph Dwight Alt preceded her in death in October 1985 and a son, David D. Alt in August 2009. Four sisters and two brothers also preceded her in death.
Throughout her life, Betty made a lasting impact on those around her. After dedicating a 34 year career to the American Woodmark Corporation, she retired, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and dedication. Betty's exceptional talent in the kitchen was well-known, and her family was fortunate to enjoy her grilled barbeque chicken, baked macaroni and cheese, potato salad, apple dumplings and homemade donuts as well as many other family favorites. She took great pride in her beautiful flowers, and her meticulously mowed yard by her great-grandson Porter.
Left to cherish her memory is her beloved daughter, Kitty Alt of Moorefield, WV; two sons, Scotty (Paula) Alt of Old Fields, WV, and Ronald Alt of Winchester, VA; two sisters, Dottie Pahe of Fayetteville, NC, and Wilma Snider of Moorefield, WV; a brother, Burley Runions, Jr. of Purgitsville, WV; one special grandson, Travis (T.R.) (Amanda) of Moorefield, WV, and two great-grandchildren Skylar and Porter; five additional grandchildren April, Josh, Dustin, Koda, and Dakota; one great grandchild Luna and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Betty's life will take place on Thursday, January 25, 2024, at 11:00 AM, at the Moorefield Assembly of God Church. Pastor Wade Armentrout will officiate the funeral service to honor her remarkable journey and the impact she made in the lives of those she touched. Following the service, Betty will be laid to rest in the Olivet Cemetery.
Friends and loved ones are invited to join the family in sharing treasured memories and offering condolences, Wednesday, January 24, 2024, at the Fraley Funeral Home Chapel, 107 Washington Street from 4 -6 PM.
