Betty Lue Elizabeth Barbe

Betty Lue Elizabeth Thorne Barbe passed away Monday morning, June 3, 2013 at her residence in Old Fields, WV after a long battle with ALS. Born October 29, 1939 in Grant Co., WV, she was the daughter of Marvin Earl Thorne and Ada Rae (Mauzy) Thorne of Dorcas, WV. Betty was a graduate of Petersburg High School. In 1959 she married the love of her life, Hansel C. Barbe, and together they made their home in Old Fields, WV. She was preceded in death by her husband Hansel, one grandson, Hayes Coppe and one sister, Arlena Sites and husband Learl. She was employed by the Hardy County Commission, and worked in the Hardy County Courthouse for 25 years. She was also a member of the Moorefield Church of the Brethren. Betty is survived by her daughter Beverly Barbe Coppe and husband H.D. of Old Fields, WV, grandson Seth Coppe of Washington, DC and her faithful and beloved companion Bruiser. She is also survived by one brother, Justin Thorne and wife Ardella of Moorefield, WV; two sisters, Sylvia Sites and husband Chester of Dorcas, WV and Juanita Brady and husband Harvey of Petersburg, WV, as well as several nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Funeral Services will be conducted 11:00 AM Friday, June 7, 2013 at the Fraley Funeral Home Chapel, 107 Washington St., with Pastors Russell & Lucy Webster & Matt Lyon officiating. Interment will follow at the Bethel Cemetery, Old Fields, WV. The family will receive friends from 4 8 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
