Lewis William "Bill" Nau, Jr, age 66 of Moorefield, WV, passed away Wednesday afternoon, August 19, 2026, at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV. Born December 5, 1959, in Cumberland, MD, he was the son of the late Lewis William “Louie” Nau, Sr and Thelma Mae Sponaugle Nau Bowers. He was also preceded in death by two sisters; Sharon and Donna.
Bill was a veteran of the US Army and lived a life rich with experiences and adventures, culminating in a career as a respected cook in the restaurant industry. His passion for creating delicious meals was matched only by his genuine care for the people he served. He had a unique ability to bring people together around the dinner table, where laughter and good food were always in abundance.
A life well-lived, Lewis leaves behind his beloved spouse of 42 years, Tonya Sue Ohler Nau, who was not only his partner but also his greatest supporter. Together, they created a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and countless cherished memories. Bill is also survived by; two sons, Corey Nau (Clair) and Kyle James Nau (Kaitlyn); three daughters, Sasha Wilbar (Taylor), Hope Brown and Mikayla Wright (Randy); nine grandchildren; a brother, Brandon Nau; and two sisters, Pattie Williamson and Karen Clayton.
In honor of Bill's spirit and the legacy he leaves behind, a celebration of his life will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, August 22, 2026, at Believers Victory Center, 106 Victory Lane, Moorefield, WV 26836. Friends, family, and all whose lives he touched are invited to join us in commemorating Lewis's remarkable journey and the joy he brought to our lives.
