Brandon Scott Cassell

Brandon Scott Cassell, age 28 of Old Fields, WV, passed away Friday afternoon, October 1, 2021, as a result of an ATV accident on the Hatfield & McCoy trail system in Boone County. Born on October 29, 1992 in Harrisonburg, VA, he was the son of Valorie Ann Bergdoll of Moorefield, WV and David Leslie Cassell of Mathias, WV. Brandon graduated from Moorefield High School’s Class of 2011, where he loved football and earned a scholarship to attend West Virginia Wesleyan in Buckhannon. Brandon then attended WyoTech school of mechanics in Blairsville, PA for diesel engines.

Brandon was employed by E R Excavating & Utilities, LLC where he was a valued employee was adored by all of his co-workers, and loved his job. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing and riding his side by side with friends. His time with his son was his greatest love.

Surviving in addition to his parents, Valorie (Todd) McDonald and David Cassell, is his son, Waylon Mathew Cassell at home; his significant other and mother of his son, Samantha Markwood; a brother, David A. (Savanna) Cassell; a sister, Shantel McDonald; grandmothers, Nancy (James) Bergdoll, Alberta Likin & Polly Cassell; a special devoted aunt, Teresa (Gregg) Ely; a second cousin, special friend and mentor, Rick Halterman and numerous other aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends.

Funeral Services will be conducted 1:00 PM Thursday, October 7, 2021 at the Fraley Funeral Home Chapel, 107 Washington Street with Pastor Wade Armentrout officiant. The family will receive  friends from 2 – 4 & 6 – 8 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.

Due to the current COVID-19 recommendations, wearing of masks and social distancing by individuals unvaccinated is recommended.
