Stewart Eugene "Buddy" Cullers, age 75 of Moorefield, WV, passed away Sunday, July 12, 2026, at the Hampshire Center in Romney, WV. Born January 5, 1951, in Petersburg, WV, he was the son of the late Stewart E. Cullers Sr and Maxine E. (Fitzwater) Cullers. He was preceded in death by a son, Carl E. "BJ" Cullers; a grandmother who raised him, Effie Fitzwater and three brothers, Delmas Cullers, Rick Cullers and Larry Cullers.
For 30 years, Buddy was a dedicated and familiar face at Adell Polymers in Petersburg, where he worked as a forklift operator. While his professional career was marked by steadfast loyalty, his true passion resided on the local ballfields.
Buddy generously devoted more than 30 years to area Little League programs where he won multiple championships. Whether he was coaching football, basketball, or baseball, he found immense joy in mentoring children and sharing his love for the game. His impact extended directly to the Moorefield High School athletics community, where he volunteered for several years coaching and keeping stats for the Yellow Jackets Girls Softball team. Off the field, Buddy enjoyed the simple pleasures of life: watching sports on television and spending time hunting.
He was a devoted coach, a hardworking provider, and a guiding figure whose tutelage helped shape the lives of countless young athletes in the Moorefield area. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and the many lives he touched.
Surviving is his loving wife of 52 years, Delphia Mae (Wratchford) Cullers; daughter Kimberly R. Cullers (Chase Coppe-Strawder); six grandchildren, Brittany (Eathan) George, Odessa (RJ Redman) Cullers, Desmond Coppe-Strawder, Fallon Coppe-Strawder, John Thomas Roy, and Jackson Roy; three great-grandchildren; Carter Brown, Hayden Brown and Rhett George; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 PM, Thursday, July 16, 2026, at Fraley Funeral Home Chapel, 107 Washington Street, Moorefield, WV, with Pastors Doyle Patch and D.J. Taylor, officiants. Interment will follow in Olivet Cemetery, Moorefield, WV. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until the time of service on Thursday.
