Carl Delmas Shirk

Carl “Delmas” Shirk, 67, of Moorefield, West Virginia, passed away suddenly but peacefully on June 28, 2025, at Mon Health Center. Born in Grant County on September 14, 1957, he was the son of the late Evelyn Virginia Shirk, and late Denver James Shirk.

Delmas is survived by his three children and one stepson: Misty Shirk Brown of Gore, Virginia, and her family—Jeff, Cooper, and Virginia Brown; Gavin Shirk of Winchester, Virginia, and his family—Samantha, Ryder, and Makyiah Shirk; and Cylee Shirk of Wheeling, West Virginia, along with her family, Carrie Shirk. He is also survived by his stepson, Josh Stonestreet, and his family—Camdyn and Zaidan. Additionally, Delmas is survived by two brothers, Randy Crawford of Fisher, WV, and Ronnie Sperling of Moorefield, WV.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Evelyn and Denver Shirk, his sister Linda Wratchford, his brother Denver “Denny” Shirk, and one stepson, Christopher Stonestreet.

Delmas was a devoted father who loved his children deeply. He was also a friend to everyone he met, drawing people in with his infectious personality, humor, and laughter.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2025, beginning at 11:00 AM at the Fraley Funeral Home Chapel, located at 107 Washington Street. Friends and family are invited to come and share their memories, beginning with visitation at 10:00 AM until the time of service. Donations may be made in Delmas’ name to the WV Caring Hospice Organization, https://www.wvcaring.org/hospice-center-donation-page/.

A post service reception is being planned with details to come. Information will be provided for those in attendance.
