Carolyn Joyce Wyer

Carolyn Joyce Wyer, age 78 of Cold Spring Road, Moorefield, WV, passed away Tuesday morning November 24, 2020 at the Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg, WV. Born on December 7, 1941 in Cumberland, MD, she was a daughter of the late Harry Sly Appel and Gladys Golden Rinker Appel.  She was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters.

Carolyn was a die-hard Ft. Hill football fan. She had the ultimate green-thumb with beautiful flowers, including her petunias that returned every year despite being told they would not. She loved nature and animals, making sure the deer and squirrels had plenty of corn. To say she was the “Clark Griswold” of the neighborhood would be a perfect characterization of how Carolyn displayed her 25,000 Christmas lights.

Surviving is her companion of over 30 years, Stanley Cook; a son, Don (Jill) Wyer of Keyser, WV; three grandchildren, Erin Wyer, Erik Wyer & Adison (Rachel) Wyer; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert (JoJo) Appel of Cumberland, MD and a sister, Margaret Humbertson of Cumberland, MD.

Graveside Services will be conducted 2:00 PM Friday, November 27, 2020 at the Wyer Family Cemetery, 4420 Knobley Road, Keyser, WV with Pastor Harold George officiating.
