Charles Edward Merchant

Charles Edward Merchant, age 90 of Rohrbaugh Lane, Moorefield, WV, passed away Friday evening, November 27, 2020 at the Grant Rehabilitation & Care Center in Petersburg, WV. Born on June 8, 1930 in Caldwell, TX, he was a son of the late Robert Edward Merchant and Ollie Mae Smith Merchant. He was preceded in death by a son, Trampas Blackford.

Charles was a Veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, enjoyed going on road trips and traveling. He loved spending time with his family and was a Mr. Fix-it as he could repair anything. His favorite past time was fishing in the pond and sitting on the porch smoking a cigar.

Surviving is his wife of 38 Years, Mary Alice McPhearson; two sons, Jerry Merchant of New Smyrna, FL and David Merchant of Cheraw, SC; four daughters, daughter, Tiffany Sites of Moorefield, WV, Sherry Merchant of New Caney, TX, Lisa Merchant of Sugarland, TX and Terrie Hernandez of Dayton, TX; a sister, Loretta Leatherman of Floydada, TX; twelve grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

Charles’s request to be cremated has been honored and there will be no formal service at this time.
