Charles Homer Raines

Charles Homer Raines, age 75 of Paxton Road, Falls Church, VA and formerly of Moorefield, WV, passed away Thursday evening at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, DC. Born July 25, 1929 in Hardy Co., WV he was a son of the late Homer & Thelma (Liller) Raines. Two sisters preceded him in death. He was retired from the US Army and a veteran of the Korean War, where he received the Purple Heart. He was a member of the Petworth Lodge #47 A.F. & A.M. Surviving is his wife of fifty years, Mondolea (Whetzel) Raines; a son, Charles H. Raines, Jr. of Burke, VA; a daughter, Diana Dean of Burke, VA; two brothers, Gordon Raines and Rocky Raines of Moorefield, WV; two sisters, Juanita See of Moorefield and Virginia Flinn of Franklin, WV; three grandchildren and a great-grandson. Funeral Services were conducted Monday, August 2, 2004 at the Fraley Funeral Home in Moorefield with the Rev. Ted Osgood officiating. Interment followed at the Olivet Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the American Heart Association or the American Lung Association.
