Obituary

Charles "Charlie" Edward Hardy, age 74 of Old Fields, WV, passed away Sunday morning, August 2, 2026 at his residence. Born on July 21, 1952 in Cumberland, MD, he was the son of the late Ervin Charles Hardy and Ida Vane (Evans) Hardy. He was preceded in death by a brother, George Hardy; a sister, Nancy Hardy Carr; and a step-grandson Dustin Hinkle.

Charlie proudly served his country as a Navy veteran and dedicated over 40 years of his life as a truck driver, known for his strong work ethic and unwavering commitment to his profession.

He was deeply passionate about his family, always putting them first and creating lasting memories. Charlie's love extended to his beloved "farm cats," who brought joy and companionship to his life. In his leisure time, he cherished the great outdoors, especially hunting and fishing, activities that brought him closer to nature and to those he loved.

Surviving is his wife Dianna Myers See Hardy; two sons, William "Billy" Hardy (Kisha) of New Richmond, WI., and Ervin "Luke" Hardy II (Brenda Leedy) of Cumberland, MD; step-son Dorman "Skiddy" See (Cathy) of Moorefield, WV; step-daughter Crystal See Hinkle (James) of Myrtle Beach, SC; one grandson, Jase Hardy of New Richmond, WI ; five step-grandchildren, Dylan Hinkle (Theda May) and Dontae Hinkle both of Myrtle Beach, SC , Branson See (Destiny Helmick) of Morgantown, WV, Bethany See Kidwell (Josh) of Morgantown, WV, and Brenna See of Moorefield, WV; one step-great-granddaughter, Charlotte Kidwell; and one step-great-grandson, Ricky Hinkle; two sisters, Joanne Hardy Smith of Morgantown, WV and Rachel Hardy McDonald of Maysville, WV.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 PM Thursday, August 6, 2026, at Fraley Funeral Home Chapel, 107 Washington Street, with Pastor DJ Taylor as officiant. Interment will follow with Military Graveside Rites accorded by the U.S. Navy and Moorefield Veteran’s Honor Guard in Olivet Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until the time of the service on Thursday.
