Dave Nesslerodt

July 24, 1944 — May 18, 2024

Moorefield, WV

David "Dave" Warren Nesslerodt, age 79 of Duffy Hill Drive, Moorefield, WV, passed away peacefully on Saturday morning May 18, 2024 at his residence with his loving family by his side. Born on July 24, 1944 in Petersburg, WV, he was a son of the late Warren Austin Nesslerodt and Phyllis Sears Nesslerodt. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Bernadette "Bernie" Halterman Nesslerodt. They married on August 13, 1965 and spent 54 years together until her passing on September 4, 2019. Additionally, their infant twin sons also preceded him in death. He was a devoted member of the Moorefield Church of the Brethren.

Dave was a beloved member of the community and cherished by all who knew him. His career started with the Joan Curtis sewing factory as a time study engineer and later went on to be the planner/purchaser as well as the receiving department supervisor at American Woodmark Corporation for over 25 years. After the flood of 1985, he worked for Interfaith to help rebuild our community with new home construction.

Dave's legacy extended well beyond his professional life. In the 1970's, he played fast pitched softball for the Durgon Darts. In 1988, he was the assistant coach to the only little league baseball team to date, to have a perfect regular season, including playoffs and championship games with a record of 24-0. His youngest son, C.W. had the privilege of sharing that moment with him as he was a player on the team. Not to be left out, he was also the assistant coach to his granddaughter Hadley's T-Ball and coach pitch teams, he was also at every swim meet to support her. He found joy in supporting his sons at numerous archery tournaments, never to compete himself. He endeared himself to many through his passion for gardening and taking care of his property, a true testament to his love for the outdoors. Dave's determination and warmth touched the lives of all of those he encountered, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of his family and friends.

Surviving are two sons, Wade (Kim) Nesslerodt of Fisher, WV and C.W. (Kim) Nesslerodt of Moorefield, WV; a sister Julie (Allen) Vandevander of Laytonsville, MD; a brother Daniel (Zoe) Nesslerodt of Petersburg, WV; four grandchildren, Hadley, Brendan, Liam and Kassidy; an aunt Tomasenia (Hollis) Ours of Maysville, WV; special friend and future grandson in law, Isaiah Smith, and his grand dog, Teddie.
