David "Bud" Whetzel

David Allen “Bud” Whetzel, age 79 of Moorefield, WV, passed away Tuesday morning, August 13, 2024 at Blue Ridge Hospice in Winchester, VA. Born on March 21, 1945 in Peru, WV, he was a son of the late Harry Allen Whetzel and Virginia Alice Mae Griffith Whetzel. Sisters, Dottie, Jeanie, Wendy, Karen and infant Tudy and brothers Paul & Toby also preceded him in death.

 Bud's belief in the power of faith brought him solace at Main Mountain Freewill Baptist Church. His dedication to his craft as an electrician took him to various power plants, showcasing his talent and commitment to his work. The weekends spent hunting in nature's embrace were his cherished moments, nurturing his bond with his loved ones, especially his son. His devotion to his family, work ethic, and love for the great outdoors defined him.

 Surviving is his wife, Donna Jean Miller Whetzel; a son, Jeff Whetzel of Moorefield, WV; a grandson, Hunter Allen Whetzel; sisters, Helen Rohrbaugh of Maysville, WV, Peggy Shaffer of Harrisonburg, VA and Rosie McDorman of Dayton, VA.

 Funeral Services will be conducted 1:00 PM Friday, August 16, 2024 at the Fraley Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Dan Howard officiant. Interment will follow in the Olivet Cemetery. Prior to the service, friends and loved ones are invited to pay their respects from 11:00 AM onwards.
