Obituary

Duane Charles Trenum, age 76 of Moorefield, WV, passed away Sunday morning, May 17, 2026 at his residence with his family at his side. Born on March 22, 1950, in Barton, MD, he was a son of the late Duane Alvin Trenum and Jennie Mae Metz Trenum. He is now at peace, reunited with his beloved daughter, Jennifer, and siblings who predeceased him.

Duane lived life to the fullest, whether it was playing baseball, fishing in his favorite streams, or indulging his passion for woodworking and furniture refinishing—skills that showcased his creativity and craftsmanship. His fondness for cats was just another testament to his gentle and nurturing spirit. His adventurous heart led him to serve as a point man during the Vietnam War, a role that highlighted his bravery and commitment to serving his country as a proud member of the U.S. Army. He was also an active participant at the American Legion and the V.F.W.

Duane is survived by his loving wife, Sandra Kay Miller Trenum; his stepson, John Johnson of Keyser, WV; and numerous grandchildren who will carry on his legacy of love and laughter.

In honor of Duane’s wishes, he will be cremated, and a small family service will be arranged in the near future. This gathering will be a time to share memories, reflect on the joy he brought into our lives, and celebrate the incredible impact he made.
