Edgar Myers

Edgar Elwood Myers, age 74 of Moorefield, WV, passed away Thursday afternoon June 12, 2025, at his residence. Born on December 21, 1950, in Old Fields, WV, he was the son of the late Charles Edgar Myers and Irene Elizabeth Reel Myers. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a stepson, Tommy Whetzel, and brothers, Charles V. Myers, Sr., Renick Myers and Thomas Myers.

Edgar was a truck driver at heart; his life was a canvas of journeys across the open road, where he found immense joy. He had a flair for nice cars and loved sharing stories about his adventures behind the wheel. In his younger days, he could often be found outdoors, chasing the thrill of a good hunt. As the years went by, Edgar’s unique pastime evolved into one of quiet observation—his favorite spot was either at a parking lot in his vehicle or on his porch, where he watched life unfold around him with fascination.

Surviving is a daughter, Jeannie S. Whetzel of Staunton, VA; brothers, Floyd Myers of Mathias, WV, David Myers of Petersburg, WV and George Myers of Petersburg, WV; sisters, Betty J. Kesner of Moorefield, WV, Becky Taylor of Purgitsville, WV, Mary Carr of Cumberland, MD and Louise Kidwell of Moorefield, WV; a grandson and a great-grandson.

To honor his life and pay our final respects, funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at the Fraley Funeral Home Chapel located at 107 Washington Street. Pastor Matt Lyon will officiate the service, and we will lay Edgar to rest at Bethel Cemetery in Old Fields, WV. Friends and family are invited to share in this remembrance, with visitation held at the funeral home from 12:00 PM until the service begins. Together, let us celebrate Edgar’s incredible journey, reflecting on the joy he brought to our lives.
