Edward Asa Burdick

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our beloved father, Edward Asa "Ace" Burdick, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, who passed away peacefully at age 93 on June 2, 2024. 

Born June 24, 1930, in Pine Island Minnesota to Asa Burdick and Emily Ellen Burdick (née Rodrick), Ed lived a cheerful life dedicated to God, family, service, and continuous learning.  He proudly served in the United States Navy for 20 years, followed by 10 years with the U.S. Department of Labor.

In addition to his wife Ann Joan Burdick (née Johnson), he was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Varnum and William (Bill) Curtis; and three sisters, Mary Viola, Katherine (Kate) Ida, and Dorothy Ann. 

Ed is survived by two daughters, Shirley Collins (Francis) of Falls Church, Virginia and Susan Zimmerman (Leslie) of Culpeper, Virginia; four sons, David Burdick (Zeny) of Kingsland, Georgia, Darold Burdick (Colleen) of Woodbridge, Virginia, Dennis Burdick (Donna) of Culpeper, Virginia, and Donald Burdick (Gerry) of Millsboro, Delaware; thirteen grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.

To commemorate his remarkable life and the memories we cherish, a service will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, June 23, 2024, at Fraley Funeral Home Chapel, 107 Washington Street, Moorefield, WV. The family will receive friends from 12:00pm - 2:00pm.  Interment will follow at Olivet Cemetery where Military Graveside Rites will be accorded by the U.S. Navy and the Moorefield Veteran’s Honor Guard.   We welcome all who knew him to join us in celebrating the life of a man who was deeply loved and will be missed.
