Elda Marjorie Smith

Elda Marjorie Smith, age 85 of Eisenhour Drive, Moorefield, WV, passed away Thursday evening, December 15, 2022, at Stonerise of Keyser in Keyser, WV. Born on July 25, 1937, in Old Fields, WV, she was a daughter of the late Cleland Eston Wilkins and Pearl Matthew Miller Wilkins. Her husband of 54 years, Lester Ray "Jack" Smith preceded her in death in June 2010. A brother Hansel Barbe, a grandson, Heath Hines also preceded her in death. Elda was a graduate of Moorefield High School, Class of 1956 and a member of the Duffey Memorial United Methodist Church.

Elda was faithful in her life to her church, an integral part of the past women’s circle, enjoyed helping with the Awana’s programs and assisting wherever needed. She was a faithful follower of MHS sports, WVU Mountaineers and her beloved Redskins (aka Commanders, but don’t tell her that). Not to be tied down, she loved travelling, especially to Virginia Beach, where she would spend all day in the sun, to get a perfect tan; and to New York City, Broadway to be exact, where her favorite was Mamma Mia. Unbeknownst to most, she had a love of shoveling snow and a huge heart, that will be missed by everyone she knew and loved.

Surviving are three daughters, Pam Fitzwater (Bob) and Connie D. Price of Moorefield, WV & Alicia Conners of Greer, SC; seven grandchildren, Chad Fitzwater (Angel) & David Fitzwater (Pam)  of Moorefield, WV, Benjamin Hines of Morgantown, WV, Alexa Conners of Greer, SC, Nicholas Conners of Falls Church, VA, Erica Conners of Greer, SC & Jenna Conners of Charleston, SC; nine great-grandchildren, Calli, twins, Cohen & Bransen, Bethany, twins, Kelton & Kaiden, Glenda, Kyle and Lizzie;  a brother, Delmas Wilkins of Woodbridge, VA; two sisters, Dee Hudson of Kingman, AZ and Nola Rodgers of Lexington Park, MD and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, December 18, 2022, at the Duffey Memorial United Methodist Church, 100 N Elm Street with Pastor Mark Flynn officiant. Interment will follow in the Olivet Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until time of services.
