Eleanor Orndorff

Eleanor Virginia Orndorff, 68, of Laurel, Maryland passed away peacefully at home on May 5, 2024. She was born on March 7, 1956 in Moorefield, West Virginia to the late Katie Flo (Wolfe) Shockey and Floyd Franklin Shockey. 

“Ellie” was very active in her church community and spent most of her time volunteering and doing for others before herself. She was an avid quilter, and enjoyed knitting, reading, playing Words With Friends, and spending time by the ocean. Ellie always had a smile on her face, and never let anyone want for anything. She was always the first one to bring food to a sick friend, or to volunteer to help someone out with anything that they needed. She will be forever remembered for her selflessness, generosity, thoughtfulness, and her extraordinary love of her friends and family.

She is survived by her best friend and husband of 50 years, Jeffrey; her children, son Michael of Frederick, MD, and daughter Caryn and her husband Mark of Flemington, NJ; her beloved grandchildren Julia, Andy, and Haleigh; brothers, Paul, Harry, and Kenny Shockey, and sisters Susie Whetzel and Becky Shockey; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends who will all miss her dearly.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Christ Memorial Presbyterian Church, 10600 Shaker Drive, Columbia, MD on May 31, 2024 at 11:00 AM, a reception and fellowship to follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to Christ Memorial Presbyterian Church, 10600 Shaker Drive, Columbia, MD 21046  in memory of Eleanor Orndorff.
