Eleanor Joy Smith

Eleanor Joy ?Monk? Smith, age 80 of Moorefield, WV, passed away Wednesday evening, January 25, 2012 at the Winchester Medical Center, Winchester, VA. Born April 30, 1931 in Moorefield, WV, she was the daughter of the late Robert A. Vance and Erma Evelyn (Kuykendall) Vance Harper. Monk had retired from American Woodmark after 30 years of service and was a lifetime member of the Moorefield Presbyterian Church where she was a member of the choir. Her husband, Frances Leo Smith, Sr. preceded her in death in July 2004. A grandson, a great-granddaughter, a sister and a daughter-in-law also preceded her in death. Surviving are three sons, Frances Smith of Slanesville, WV, Bob Smith of Fisher, WV and John Smith of Riverton, WV; two daughters, Vivian Burgess of Mechanicsburg, PA and Nancy Grizzle of Moorefield, WV; a brother, Ronald ?Bud? Vance of Purgitsville, WV; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and an adopted ?family member? Levi Travis Crites. Funeral Services will be conducted 11:00 AM Saturday, January 28, 2012 at the Fraley Funeral Home Chapel, 107 Washington St., with Pastor Chris Whetzel officiating. The family will receive friends from 2 ? 4 & 6 ? 8 PM Friday at the funeral home.
