Elisabeth Love Welton Brown

Mrs. Elisabeth Welton Brown, 86, formerly of Crestwood Village, died peacefully on Saturday, February 12, at Willamsport Nursing Home. She was the wife of Dr. James Wilson Brown who died October 1981. Born April 26, 1918 in Moorefield WV, she was a daughter of the late Harry C. & Alma J. Pancake Welton. Mrs. Brown received a degree in Sociology from the George Washington University and was employed by the federal government at the National Archives in Washington, D.C. In addition to being a homemaker, she served as secretary at several churches and volunteered at the Frederick Memorial Hospital. She was a member of the Frederick Presbyterian Church and served a term as Deacon. She was an avid bridge player and games enthusiast. Surviving are three sons, Thomas Brown and wife JoEtta from Waynesboro, PA, Richard Brown and wife Carol from Birmingham AL, Harry Brown and wife Kay from Little Rock AR; 8 grandchildren, James Brown and wife Denise, Sarah Spinella and husband Michael, Rebecca Fuchs and husband Nicholas, Laura Falcon and husband Scott, Amanda Magers and husband Robert, Nicole Brown, Elisabeth Brown and Aaron Brown; 5 great-grand children, Adam and Michael Fuchs, Kolbi Brown, Blayn and Lucas Magers; 2 sisters, Susan P. Fisher of Moorefield, WV and Anne Jones and husband Allen of Va. Beach; and one brother, Harry C. Welton, Jr. and wife Betty Lou of Moorefield WV. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Her sisters, Virginia Bowen and Ella ?Pud? Fraser, and brothers, Aleck Welton and Richard Welton; and brothers-in-law, Dr. J.William Fisher, James Fraser, and Harry Bowen preceded her in death. A Memorial services will be held in Moorefield at the Moorefield Presbyterian Church on Wednesday, February 16th, at 11:00 a.m.; and in Frederick at the Frederick Presbyterian Church on Thursday, February 17th, at 11:00 a.m. The family requests that memorials in her memory, be made to the Frederick Presbyterian Church, 115 W. 2nd St., Frederick MD, 21701, or the Moorefield Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 653, Moorefield WV, 26836.
