Emmett Thornton Tross

Emmett Thornton ?Hoss? Tross, age 92 of Petersburg, WV formerly of Moorefield, WV, passed away Tuesday morning, November 6, 2012 at the Grant County Nursing Home in Petersburg, WV. Born January 21, 1920 in Hardy Co., WV, he was the son of the late Clarence Conway Tross & Sally Virginia (Duffy) Tross. ?Hoss? had retired from Allied-Egry of Petersburg, was a truck driver for VanMeter poultry and was a guard for the state of West Virginia at Denmar. He also participated in the CC Camps. He was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters. Surviving is a a son, Donald Strawder of Martinsburg, WV; a step-son, Ernest ?Tom? Mickens of Moorefield, WV; two sisters, Lucille Redman and Emma Mitchell of Moorefield, WV; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral Services will be conducted 1:00 PM Thursday, November 8, 2012 at the Moorefield Church of God, South Elm St, with Pastor Carolyn Berg officiating. Private Interment will follow at the Tross Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until time of services at 1:00 PM at the church.
