Hansel Hedrick Snider

Dr. Hansel Hedrick Snider, age 94 of Winchester Avenue, Moorefield, WV, passed away Monday morning, June 6, 2005 at the Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg, WV. Born January 29, 1911 in Moorefield, WV he was a son of the late Frank & Olive Leata (Hedrick) Snider. Dr. Snider was a graduate of the Baltimore College of Dental Surgery, University of Maryland, Class of 1935. After graduation, Dr. Snider spent a year on Active Duty with the United States Public Health Service. He then opened his office for the practice of Dentistry in Moorefield where he practiced for 48 years with the exception of two years he served on Active Duty in the US Air Force. Dr. Snider was a member of numerous professional organizations including, Omicron Kappa Upsilon Honorary Dental Fraternity; Gorgas Odontological Honor Society, the Potomac Valley Dental Association and the American Dental Association. Dr. Snider retired and gave up his practice of Dentistry in July 1984. He was a member of the Duffey Memorial United Methodist Church, a life member of the Queens Point Memorial Post #6775 Veterans of Foreign Wars, McCoole, MD and a charter member of the Moorefield Lions Club. He was preceded in death by his wife Margaret V. Dearing in 1985. Surviving is a son, William F. Snider and wife Wilma of Port Orange, FL; a grandson, Steven W. Snider of Port Orange, FL; a sister-in-law, Naomi P. Snider of Keyser, WV and his close and dear friend of 14 years, Dortha V. Bosley. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, June 9, 2005 at the Fraley Funeral Home in Moorefield with Pastor Ed Craft and the Rev. Ted Osgood officiating. Inurnment will follow at a later date at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Masons Barn, MD. At his request, Dr. Snider has been cremated.
