Irene Smith

Irene Smith, age 74 of Moorefield, WV, passed away Tuesday evening, August 12, 2025, at her residence with family at her side. Born on November 2, 1950, in Pineville, KY, she was a daughter of the late Jake Hibbard and Beatrice Cook Hibbard. She was predeceased by her beloved husbands, Alex Taylor and Roger Smith, and her son, Steven Taylor, along with three sisters and two brothers.

Irene was a remarkable homemaker who touched the lives of many during her time working at a long-term care facility. With a green thumb that brought life to her garden, she filled her home with vibrant flowers and spent countless hours watching TV and enjoying the simple pleasure of chatting with neighbors from her front porch.

Her legacy will live on through her loving family, including her daughters, Deborah Smith (Jonathan) of Moorefield, WV, Virginia Hunter (Charles) and Sherry Taylor of Pineville, KY; daughter-in-law Beth Taylor; a son, Dwayne Smith of Cincinnati, OH; a very special person to her, Greg Brock; and siblings Larry Hibbard, Daphne Kennedy, Lynn Helton, and Phyliss Hibbard of Cincinnati, OH. She was also a proud grandmother to fourteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren who brought her so much joy.

In accordance with Irene's wishes, she has been cremated, and a private family gathering will be held at a later date to celebrate her wonderful life.
