"Jake" L. Lofton

Dallas Layne “Jake” Lofton, age 83 of Dorcas, WV went to be with the Lord, Monday afternoon, March 9, 2020, at his residence. Born on March 5, 1937, in Hardy County, WV, he was a son of the late Charles Phillip Lofton and Audrey Rea Crites Lofton. Three brothers also preceded him in death. Jake enjoyed time with his family, cherishing time with his children, grandchildren, and his great-grandchildren, just any and all who came to visit him. An outdoorsman, Jake loved hunting with  family and a friend, fishing with the grandchildren and his favorite activity was camping with his daughter and others.

On February 13, 1963 he married his wife, Eveline Frances Thorne Lofton and they were happily married for 57 years. Also surviving are two sons, Dallas E. (companion Trish) Lofton of Maysville, WV and Ricky L. Lofton of Dorcas, WV; two daughters, Carol Sue Lofton of Dorcas, WV and Patty (Jim) Morton of Petersburg, WV; two sisters, Shirlene Whetzel of Petersburg, WV and Alice Jean Keplinger of Moorefield, WV; fourteen grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral Services will be conducted 11:00 AM Thursday, March 12, 2020, at the Fraley Funeral Home Chapel, 107 Washington Street with Pastors Brad Taylor and Ted Anderson officiants. Interment will follow at the Thorne Family Cemetery, Dorcas, WV. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
