Janelle Lucinia Whetzel

Janelle Lucinia (Murray) Whetzel was born May 19, 1983 in Allegany County, MD to Willis Edward Murray and Dixie Lee Murray.  On Friday September 23^rd, 2022, Janelle transitioned from this world into the arms of her heavenly father. 

Janelle was the baby of three children including two older brothers Willis Edward Murray Jr. and Justin Murray both residing around the Petersburg area.  Janelle was raised in Petersburg and was a 2001 graduate from Petersburg High School.  She then attended Potomac State College, West Virginia University and finally Fairmont State where she obtained a Bachelor’s degree in teaching. Janelle taught at various schools in the area before finding a long-term position at Keyser Primary Middle School.

Janelle wed in 2006 to Petersburg native Justin Whetzel.  Together they resided in the Brian Field in Petersburg where they began raising 2 children Josiah Edward, age 13 and Ananiah Grace, age 8.  Later they moved to Moorefield in 2016. 

Janelle’s smile and presence could light up a room as she entered, and people were naturally drawn to her.  As her husband writing this obituary she brought an abundance of love, excitement, and joy to my life as well as my children and I am proud that I got to be the one to call her wife, love, and friend. 

A celebration of Janelle’s life will take place at Believer’s Victory Center (160 Victory Lane Moorefield, WV) on Sunday October 9th at 3pm with a meal to follow.
