John Price Riggleman

John Price Riggleman, 78, of Martinsburg, WV formerly of Moorefield passed away on July 29, 2023.  He was born on April 19, 1945, to Price and Beatrice Garrett Riggleman of Moorefield.  

John was a 1965 graduate of Moorefield High School and attended Potomac State College.  He enlisted in the WV Air National Guard and retired as an air cargo specialist after he was injured while on active duty.  He worked in highline construction, as a bridge welder with WVDOT District 7, and as an over-the-road truck driver.  Between his military travels and driving a truck, John visited every state and several countries.

A longtime member of NHRA, John was a master of engines, having built his own race car as well as a trailer to haul it.  He was an avid motorcyclist, and he mastered the art of hang gliding.  In earlier years he enjoyed boating, water skiing and tournament riding.  Riding his horse, King, he participated in local jousting tournaments as Knight of Spring Avenue.  He was also a member of American Legion Post 64.

He is survived by his former wife and best friend, Carol Shriver Riggleman; their son, Alan P. Riggleman (Holly) of Harpers Ferry; their daughter, Kelly Garrett Glover (Sean) of Hedgesville; one grandson, Killian Forster Glover and one granddaughter, Scotlyn Monoka Glover.  Also surviving are maternal cousins Ted Garrett, Jeff Keller, Janice Longest, Lucy Jo Wirth, and Donna Vance, as well as multiple paternal cousins.    

A graveside service will be conducted by Pastor Ron Bowyer at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 3rd, 2023, at Olivet Cemetery in Moorefield and Military Graveside Rites will be accorded by the U.S. Air Force and the Moorefield Veteran’s Honor Guard. There will be no visitation.
