John Sprouse

John William Sprouse, age 78, of Moorefield, WV, passed away on Saturday morning May 25, 2024 at his residence with his loving family by his side. Born on September 5, 1945, in New Haven, WV, he was a son of the late William Riley Sprouse and Xilpha Geraldine Stewart.   He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Susan “Sue” Carole Slear Sprouse.  They married on October 31, 1985, and spent 27 years together until her passing in November of 2012.

John started his career as a heavy machinery mechanic and welder with Bud Riggleman. From 2005 until his retirement in 2011, he worked at Fairfax Materials, LLC. Even after retiring, he continued to offer his skills independently to people in the community. 

He was deeply involved in his son’s and grandson’s sports activities, spending recent years traveling and attending Landon’s practices and games. John cherished taking Landon hunting, fishing, and on many trips to McDonald’s. He loved his visits from Sada, Kayston, Kaylor and Kanson.  He loved spending time with his family and would do anything for them and his friends. Cooking, especially preparing Thanksgiving dinner, was one of his favorite activities.

Surviving are one son, Jacob (Monica) Wilson of Moorefield, WV and a daughter, Tiffany (Shaun) Michael of Moorefield, WV; a sister Sandra (Jim) Shell of Point Pleasant, WV; one grandson Landon Wilson of Moorefield, WV; one granddaughter Sada of Moorefield, WV; chosen family members are Kolton (Jessika), Kayston, Kaylor and Kanson Markwood of Petersburg, WV; nieces, a nephew and closest friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later time by the family.
