Josephine Frances Halterman Bensenhaver, 92, of Rig, WV, died September 9, 2012 at Baker, WV. Josephine was born January 8, 1920 at Rig, WV. She was the daughter of the late Ursula Simmons Halterman and John Jehue Halterman. She is preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Glenn Bensenhaver, February 21, 1993, as well as 6 brothers and 9 sisters. Surviving her is one sister, Wayde Halterman Bean. Josephine is also survived by her four children: Glenn Bensenhaver and his wife, Mary Ellen (Cookie), Kay Halterman and husband Junior Halterman of Moorefield, Wanda Bensenhaver, of Rig, and Betty Fisher and husband Lee of Winchester, VA. Surviving are also three grandchildren; Donald Bensenhaver of Fisher, WV, Lisa Burke and husband David of Atlanta, GA, and Chad Halterman and his wife Melissa of Hedgesville, WV, and a step-grandson, Matthew Fisher of Dallas, TX. She is also survived by four great-grandchildren; Taylor and Casey Burke, Nick and Amelia Halterman, and a step-great grandchild, Dylan Fisher. Josephine was an active member of the Oak Dale Presbyterian Chapel. She was president of the Rig Civic Center for many years. She was not only a 4-H leader for 45 years but achieved All-Star status in 4-H for her service. Josephine had many talents such as sewing, crocheting, quilting, and making doll clothes. She frequently used these talents in the service of others. She was an enthusiastic supporter of Franklin Graham?s Samaritan?s Purse worldwide service and ministry to children and families. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Wednesday September 12, 2012 at the Fraley Funeral Home Chapel, 107 Washington St., with Pastor Doyle Patch officiating. Interment will follow at the Newhouse Cemetery, Rig, WV. Friends will be received Tuesday evening from 5pm-8pm at the funeral home.
