Larry Paxton Snyder

Larry Paxton Snyder, age 71 of Tanglewood Drive, Old Fields, WV passed away Tuesday evening, January 16, 2018 at the Winchester Medical Center in Winchester, VA. Born on November 22, 1946 in Kessel, WV, he was a son of the late Clyde Paxton Snyder and Ona Dale Smith Snyder. Four brothers and two sisters also preceded him in death. He was a local barber for 45+ years; a member of the Duffey Memorial United Methodist Church; and a member of the Moorefield Lodge # 29 A.F & A.M. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War having served on the USS Douglas H. Fox (DD-779) and was a member of the John M. Golliday Post # 64 American Legion. Larry was a past member of the Moorefield Town Council and served as a Mayor of the Town of Moorefield for 8 years. Surviving is his wife of 49+ years, Elizabeth B. Libby Calhoun Snyder; a daughter, Monica Snyder Wilson (husband Jacob) of Moorefield, WV; a son, David Todd Snyder (wife Lorena) of Moorefield, WV; three brothers, Revs. Michael D Snyder & Charles C. Snyder along with Nevin T. Snyder of Fisher, WV; a sister, Ruby E. Mason of Fisher, WV and five grandchildren, Kolton Markwood (wife Jessika), Alexis Snyder, Hannah Snyder, Blake Snyder and Landon Wilson. Funeral Services will be conducted 11:00 AM Saturday, January 20, 2018 at the Duffey Memorial United Methodist Church, 100 N Elm Street with the Revs. Charles Snyder & Steve Snyder officiating. Interment will follow with Military Graveside Rites Accorded by the U.S. Navy and local Honor Guard at the Olivet Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 7 PM Friday at the Fraley Funeral Home Chapel, 107 Washington Street.
