Leona Evans Reynolds, age 94 of Moorefield, WV, passed away Saturday morning, June 21, 2025, at the Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg, WV. Born on November 11, 1930, near Fisher, WV she was the daughter of Lantz Edward Evans and Beulah Elizabeth Woerner Evans.

Leona was employed for 25 years as secretary to Wendell Hester, President, of Hester Industries, Inc. after having worked for the Moorefield Examiner. She received her education in local schools and in 2004 returned to college and received her A.A. degree from Eastern Community College.

She was a member of the Moorefield Presbyterian Church and South Branch Valley D.A.R. She was a former member and president of the Moorefield Women’s Club, a former member of the Hardy County Public Library Commission and the Olivet Cemetery Association board.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thurmond Scott Reynolds on July 29, 2004. She was also preceded in death by an infant son, a sister, Fay E. Butler; a stepdaughter, Patricia Dolecki and a stepson, Gerard T. Reynolds.

She is survived by a daughter, JoEllen Halterman of Baker, WV; a stepson, Gregory S. Reynolds of Moorefield, WV; a granddaughter, Jane Halterman of Baker, WV; ten step-grandchildren; sixteen step-great-grandchildren and a brother, Karl L. Evans of Moorefield, WV.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, June 27, 2025, at the Fraley Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Mike Funkhouser officiant, assisted by her granddaughter, Jane Halterman. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until the service time at 11:00 AM.
