Mary Frances Denney

Mary Frances Denney, age 97 of Moorefield, WV formerly of Cumberland, MD passed away Tuesday evening, April 12, 2016 at Kentwood Extended Care Facility in Augusta, GA. Born February 8, 1919 in a log cabin south of Moorefield, WV, she was a daughter of the late David Franklin Miley and Anna Elizabeth (Boswell) Miley. Her husband, William Herman Denney, Sr. preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her eldest son, Capt. William H. Billy Denney, Jr., whom died in Viet Nam in 1969, a daughter, Joan Gonter, whom died last year in addition to a brother and sister. She was a Gold Star Mother, a past member of the Kingsley United Methodist Church, a past member of the Cumberland MOOSE #271 Ladies Auxiliary and a past member of the Cumberland VFW Post #1411 Ladies Auxiliary. Surviving is a son, 1SGT (ret) Thomas C. Denney, Sr. and wife Phyllis of Moorefield, WV; two daughters, Karen Lennox and husband Col. (ret) Kenneth of Augusta, GA and Suzanne Mezzadri of San Diego, CA; ten grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, May 8, 2016 at the Fraley Funeral Home Chapel, 107 Washington Street with Pastors Russell & Lucy Webster officiating. Inurnment will follow at the Olivet Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until time of services.
