Mary Louise Ratliff

Mary Louise Ratliff, age 67 of Moorefield, WV, passed away Tuesday afternoon, May 16, 2023, at her residence with her family at her side. Born on August 11, 1955, in Petersburg, WV, she was a daughter of the late George William Hedrick and Rose Mary Helman Hedrick. Her husband, Harold Edward Ratliff preceded her in death in September 2005. A stepson also preceded her in death.

Anyone who knew Mary Lou knew that she enjoyed talking, especially after her softball playing days were behind her and she would watch any softball game she could find. You could find her at any Little League sporting event, there to encourage the youngsters to play their best. Not scared of worms, she enjoyed fishing with her late husband and also hunting. Most Sundays were spent watching NASCAR and her favorite driver, Tony Stewart. Family time was the best time for Mary Lou, especially after Quincy was born, he was her shining light.

Surviving is her daughter, Tracy H. (husband Tom) Combs of Moorefield, WV; her grandson, Quincy Combs; a stepson and five step-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be conducted 11:00 AM Monday, May 22, 2023, at the Walnut Grove Church of the Brethren with Pastor D.J. Taylor officiant. Interment will follow in Walnut Grove Gardens adjacent to the church. The family will receive friends from 4 – 7 PM Sunday, May 21 at the Fraley Funeral Home Chapel, 107 Washington Steet.

Mary Lou requested that memorials be directed to the family for her only grandchild, Quincy’s college fund, c/o P.O. Box 16, Moorefield, WV 26836.
