Nancy Hambleton

Nancy Belle Hambleton, a beloved member of the Moorefield community, passed away peacefully on December 25, 2023, at the age of 97. She was born on November 10, 1926, at Bass, WV, to the late Edgar Beaty Southerly and Blossie Chloe Wolfe Southerly. Nancy was a woman of warmth, compassion, and dedication, leaving behind a legacy that will be cherished by all who knew her.

Nancy's love for her community and her unwavering commitment to caregiver role were at the forefront of her life. She devoted 50 years of her career to helping others, working as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Grant Memorial Hospital and the Grant Rehabilitation Center. Her dedication to the healthcare industry earned her widespread respect and admiration.

Beyond her professional achievements, Nancy was a beloved member of the Moorefield Church of the Brethren. Her strong faith guided her throughout her life, providing her with comfort and an unwavering sense of purpose. Nancy had a passion for gardening and found solace and joy in cultivating beautiful flowers and delicious produce. Her talent in the kitchen was unmatched, and many will fondly remember her delicious dishes and her famous pineapple ice cream.

Nancy was preceded in death by her loving husband of 65 years, Adrian Leon Hambleton Sr., as well as her daughters, Nancy Whetzel and Barbara Weese, and her son, Adrian Hambleton Jr. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family, leaving behind a lasting void.

Nancy will forever be held in the hearts and memories of her surviving son, David Hambleton, and daughters, Diana Hambleton and Donna Hambleton. She also leaves behind ten grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, and fifteen great-great-grandchildren, who will continue to honor her legacy through their own lives.

Funeral services for Nancy Belle Hambleton will be held on Friday, December 29, 2023, at 1:00 PM at the Fraley Funeral Home Chapel, located at 107 Washington Street. The service will be officiated by Pastors Russell Webster. Interment will follow at the Olivet Cemetery, where Nancy will find eternal rest.

Prior to the service, the family will welcome friends and loved ones from 11:00 AM until the time of the service at the Fraley Funeral Home Chapel. Please join us in remembering Nancy's boundless love, her unwavering dedication, and the lasting impact she had on our lives.
