Nellie George

Mrs. Nellie Fisher George, 90, of Middletown, MD, passed away peacefully on August 17, 2025, at her home.

She was the wife of the late Oscar D. George who preceded her in death on April 17, 2018. Born on October 31, 1934, in Moorefield, WV she was the daughter of the late George Eskridge Fisher and Hilda Mae Purtbaugh Fisher. She was also preceded in death by a son-in-law Kirby Toms and brothers George and William Fisher.

She was a member of the Pleasant View Church of the Brethren in Burkittsville, MD. Nellie also worked for Safeway before retiring after 23 years.

Surviving are her three children David George and wife Cheri of Wytheville, VA; Brenda Harlow and husband Dale of Middletown, MD; and Tena Toms of Rocky Gap, VA; Four grandchildren Misti Lantz and husband Daryl, Amy Ausherman and husband Kevin, Jason Toms, and Dave George III; Four great-grandchildren Tyler Lantz and Wylie Lantz, Kaitlyn Ausherman, Gracie George; and one great-great granddaughter Stephanie. Nellie is also survived by one brother Frederick Fisher of Moorefield, WV; and two sisters Anna Borror of Waynesboro, PA; and Hilda Sherman of Palmyra, VA.

There will be a private family viewing prior to a graveside service at Olivet Cemetery with Pastors Russell and Lucy Webster officiants.
