Otis "Buzz" Seymour Weatherholt, Jr.

Pastor Otis “Buzz” Seymour Weatherholt, Jr. age 79 of Fisher, WV passed away Wednesday evening, November 27, 2019 at the Winchester Medical Center in Winchester, VA. Born on March 24, 1940 in Petersburg, WV, he was a son of the late Otis Seymour Weatherholt, Sr. and Mary Pauline Sirbaugh Weatherholt. A granddaughter, Hannah Marie Weatherholt, a sister, Treva Sirbaugh Helmick and a half-brother, Lester Weatherholt also preceded him in death.

Buzz was a carpenter by trade, and in his later years, enjoyed sharing his love for the greatest carpenter of all (Jesus). He was Pastor at the South Mill Creek Church of Brethren in Upper Tract, WV, for several years and was also Pastor at the Mountain View Community Church in Purgitsville, WV.  He was a charter member of the local Grant/Hardy County Gideon Camp and was the first president of the organization. In 1989, he founded the Potomac Valley Men’s Choir where he was the director for 30 years. The Choir is a community outreach that has raised more than half a million dollars to date helping others. Members will serve as Honorary Pallbearers for the funeral service.

Buzz never met a stranger. He enjoyed life and talking with others. He was an avid hunter and he also enjoyed fishing, hunting for arrowheads and being outdoors enjoying wildlife. He was very interested in working on his genealogy. He loved being with his family, especially spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of the Old Fields Baptist Church and he loved the Lord Jesus and was always ready and willing to serve Him.

Surviving is his loving wife of 62 years, Bette Gwen Barr Weatherholt; a daughter, Beverly (Jerry) Donald of Middletown, MD; three sons, Victor (Anita) Weatherholt of Lynchburg, VA, Jeffrey (Laurie) Weatherholt of Moorefield, WV and Dan (Denice) Weatherholt of Fisher, WV; six grandchildren, Blair, Emily, Molly, Brooke, Matthew & Sarah; a sister, Janet Weatherholt of Petersburg, WV and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

Funeral Services will be conducted 10:00 AM Monday, December 2, 2019 at the Fraley Funeral Home Chapel with Pastors Dan Combs & Dan Howard officiants. Interment will follow at the Newhouse Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 – 7 PM Sunday at the funeral home.
