Philip Kent Petry

October 20, 1946 — August 27, 2021

Philip Kent Petry, age 74 of Brierwood Lane, Old Fields, WV, passed away Friday morning, August 27, 2021 at his residence with family at his side. Born on October 20, 1946 in Richmond, Indiana, he was a son of the late Harold H Petry and Norma Helen Rife Petry.

Phil was a member of the Sebring Church of the Brethren in Sebring, Fla. Phil was a retired regulatory officer with the W.Va. Department of Agriculture. He directed the water quality program in this area in support of the Chesapeake Bay. He was the W.Va. representative to the Association of American Feed Control Officials, where he served on the Board of Directors for six years and served as President for one term. He was active in Boy Scouts of America, 4-H and Future Farmers of America, actively mentoring our youth.

Surviving is his wife of 51 years, Evelyn Marlene Darner Petry; two sons, Bradley D. Petry and wife, Stacey M. Miller Petry, and their children, Eloise M. Petry and Desmond W. Petry of Laurel, MD and Jacob S. Petry and wife Courtney L. Brunty Petry and their children Lennox S. Petry and Claire L. Petry of Proctorville, OH; and three sisters, Carol A. Petry, Joyce E. Petry and Mary J. Petry all of Moorefield, WV.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 4:30 PM, Saturday, September 4, 2021, at the Fraley Funeral Home Chapel, 107 Washington Street with Pastor Joyce E. Petry officiant. Inurnment will be at a later date in the Cremation Garden Columbarium in Olivet Cemetery.

Due to the current COVID-19 recommendations, wearing of masks and social distancing by individuals unvaccinated is recommended.
