Phyllis Ann Denney

March 6, 1945 — February 8, 2021

Phyllis Ann Denney, age 75 of Maple Avenue, Moorefield, WV, passed away Monday evening, February 8, 2021 at Garrett Regional Medical Center in Oakland, MD. Born on March 6, 1945 in Petersburg, WV, she was the daughter of the late Paul Glenwood Bean and Helen Bowman Bean. Her 1st husband Peter T. Burns, Jr. preceded her in death in December 1986. A brother, John Bean also preceded her in death.

Phyllis was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church in Bean Settlement, a longtime member of the Moorefield Volunteer Fire Co-46 Ladies Auxiliary and the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 102. Phyllis was the owner/operator of “Perfect Stitch” in Moorefield and would be considered a professional seamstress. Not only did she sew, but she enjoyed quilting, playing cards, having fun, taking trips to the beach, hot rod cars but her family was the most important thing she loved, especially her grandchildren. Despite the sometimes bullish surface, she had a sweet kind loveable inside, that was cherished by all who knew her.

Surviving is her husband of 29 years, Thomas C. Denney, Sr.; four sons, Scott (JoLee) Burns of Springfield, WV, Mitch (Joanna) Burns of Fisher, WV, Peter T. (Jacki) Burns, III of Sneads Ferry, NC and Thomas C. (Lavenda) Denney, Jr. of Winchester, VA; seven grandchildren, Aaron, Morgan, Whitney, Tanner, Jackson, Patton & Tori; a great-grandson, Rhett; a future great-grandson due in May; a sister, Louise Mongold of Baker, WV; three brothers, Paul Bean, Jr. of Summerduck, VA, Larry A. Bean of Clearbrook, VA and Ronnie Bean of Moorefield, WV and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be conducted 3:00 PM Saturday, February 13, 2021 at the Fraley Funeral Home Chapel, 107 Washington Street with Pastors Russell & Lucy Webster officiating. Interment will follow at the Olivet Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 – 3 PM Saturday at the funeral home.

Due to the current COVID-19 restrictions, wearing of masks, temperature checks and social distancing will be required at the funeral home at all times.
