Ray Franklin Shockey

Ray Franklin Shockey, age 80 of South Fork Road, Moorefield, WV, passed away Tuesday morning, September 15, 2020 at the Winchester Medical Center in Winchester, VA. Born on May 27, 1940 in the Ft. Run area near Moorefield, WV, he was a son of the late Floyd Franklin Shockey and Katie Flo Wolfe Shockey. A brother, Roger also preceded him in death.

Ray was a member of the MHS class of 1959 and enjoyed hunting, riding his 4-wheeler and the outdoors when he was younger. He with his wife enjoyed attending the Country Store Opry and later in his years, porch sitting, watching traffic and drinking coffee. He especially loved time with his children and grandchildren, watching them in their sporting events over the years.

Surviving is his wife of almost 60 years, Gathilee Sherman Shockey; five sons, Bobby (Lisa) Shockey of Wardensville, WV, Bruce (Tayloria) Shockey, Gary (Rosie) Shockey & Steve (Barb) Shockey of Moorefield, WV and Mike (Gail) Shockey of Petersburg, WV; fifteen grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; four sisters, Eleanor (Jeff) Orndorff of Columbia, MD, Charlotte Crites, Rebecca Shockey & Susan (Freddy) Whetzel all of Moorefield, WV; three brothers, Kenny (Lavaughn) Shockey, Paul (Laura Jean) Shockey & Harry (Teri) Shockey all of Moorefield, WV; numerous nieces and nephews and a special aunt, Phyllis Wolfe.

Funeral Services will be conducted 7:00 PM Friday, September 18, 2020 at the Fraley Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Johnnie Stump officiant. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until time of services at 7:00 PM on Friday.

Due to the current COVID-19 restrictions, wearing of masks and social distancing will be required at the funeral home at all times.
