Ray Victor Smith

Ray Victor Smith, age 83 of Ft. Run Road, Moorefield, WV, went to be with the Lord on Monday evening, December 21, 2020 at his residence. Born on October 4, 1937 in Hardy Co, WV, he was a son of the late Paul Brant Smith and Ollie Elizabeth Smith Smith. He was preceded in death by brothers, Vance, Bill & Bobby, a sister, Peggy Mathias, and an infant sister. He was a member of the Walnut Grove Church of the Brethren

Ray worked for 25 years for Homer Fellers Orchards in Levels, WV, and retired after 20 years from Halterman Seamless Guttering in Moorefield. . Ray will be remembered for his wisdom and knowledge and his numerous stories of how things were done in the old days. Sunday walks or drives and tinkering around with anything and everything was Ray, including his gardening and little farm.

Surviving is his wife of 61 years, Phyllis Marie Wratchford Smith; a son, Timothy R. (Barbara) Smith of Moorefield, WV; a daughter, Tracey N. (Eddie) Mullenax of Petersburg, WV; two grandsons, James (Courtney) Mullenax & Justin Mullenax; a granddaughter, Janell Mullenax; three great-grandchildren, Jonah, Jace & Jana Mullenax; two step-grandchildren Catherine & Chris Koontz; a step-great-grandson, Mason; a brother, Jack (Sharon) Smith of Burlington, WV; three sisters, Barbara Smith of Petersburg, WV, Linda (Roger) Moyers of Moorefield, WV and Betty Hartman of Maysville, WV and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside Services will be conducted 2:00 PM Saturday, December 26, 2020 at Walnut Grove Gardens, Rt 55 near Moorefield with Pastor Gary Shirk, Jr. officiant. Interment will follow. Social distancing will be observed in the cemetery
