Robert Burns Barr

Robert Burns Barr, age 100 of Rig, WV, passed away Saturday afternoon, November 6, 2010 at his residence. Born April 28, 1910 in Kessel, WV, he was the son of the late Oscar & Mamie (Newhouse) Barr. He was the oldest living worker from the Petersburg Tannery. His loving wife of 70 years, Ellen R. (Sherman) Barr preceded him in death in May 2004. Five sisters; (Vera Sherman, Lila Miller, Jean Simmons, Gladys Hardy & infant Ilene Barr) three brothers; (Vance Barr, Paul Barr & James Barr) a great-grandson; (Robert M. Hardy) and a step-great-granddaughter (Kristen Norwood) preceded him in death. Surviving are two daughters, Von Hardy of Rig, WV and Joan Smith (Charles) of Petersburg, WV, five grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, three step-great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter and a step-great-great-grandson. Funeral Services will be conducted 2:00 PM Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at the Fraley Funeral Home Chapel, 107 Washington St., with Pastor Lynn Rohrbaugh officiating. Interment will follow at the Newhouse Cemetery, Rig, WV. The family will receive friends from 5 ? 8 PM Monday at the funeral home.
