Rodney Franklin Whetzel, a resilient soul who faced life's challenges with unwavering positivity, passed away on April 9, 2024, at the age of 52 at the Grant Rehabilitation & Care Center in Petersburg, WV. He was born on September 28, 1971, in Petersburg, WV, to his loving mother Betty Lee Jenkins Whetzel and the late Eugene Franklin Whetzel.

Rodney found solace in his faith as a member of Harper’s Chapel Church of the Brethren, and though his academic path led him through Moorefield High School, his true strength was evident in his enduring battle with Muscular Dystrophy.

In addition to his mother, Rodney is survived by his devoted sister Tammy Sites of Moorefield, WV, along with nieces, nephews, a great niece, and a great nephew. Among those who will hold his memory dear are his Uncle Lyle (Cindy) Whetzel and Aunt Nancy Myers.

A graveside inurnment will be conducted at a later date to honor and remember Rodney's remarkable journey.
