Wade Lee Sirk, age 94 of Moorefield, WV, passed away Saturday morning, October 31, 2026, at EA Hawse Healthcare Center in Baker, WV. Born March 5, 1932, in Needmore, WV, he was the son of the late Hayes William Sirk and Redith Virginia Wilson Reynolds and stepfather, Floyd Reynolds. He was also preceded in death by brother Harold Sirk.
Wade graduated from Wardensville High School in 1950, where he served as Vice President of the FFA Federation and was recognized as a 4-H Pin Wearer and All-Star. Throughout his life, he remained dedicated to serving others and his community. He served as a Boy Scout leader, was an active member of numerous local Ruritan Clubs, and generously gave his time and support to the Gideons.
Wade devoted 65 years of his life to pastoral ministry, serving 35 years in Virginia and 16 years in West Virginia. He was affectionately known as the "Building Pastor" because wherever he was appointed, he could be found building churches and housing, using his hands, skills, and talents to improve the communities he served.
Woodworking and carpentry were among Wade's greatest passions, talents that were part of his family's heritage and passed down through generations. He took great pride in working with wood and building things that would serve others for years to come. His love of building went far beyond construction; he spent his life building churches, communities, friendships, and relationships.
Wade also enjoyed the simple pleasures of life and the outdoors. He loved deer hunting, camping, and cooking outdoors in a Dutch oven. These activities brought him enjoyment and reflected his appreciation for nature, hard work, and family traditions.
Between pastoral ministry and minor retirement, Wade wasn't ready to stop serving people. He continued sharing his friendly spirit as a Walmart greeter in both West Virginia and Florida, welcoming customers and making connections with those he met.
Throughout his 65 years of ministry and beyond, Wade lived a life marked by faith, dedication, craftsmanship, and a willingness to serve. He was truly a builder in every sense of the word. The churches and homes he helped build may stand as physical reminders of his work, but the faith, friendships, and memories he left behind are the greatest part of his legacy.
Wade spent his life building more than churches and homes; he built a legacy of faith, service, and love that will continue for generations.
Surviving is his wife of 70 years, Phyllis Mae (Inskeep) Sirk; two sons, Mark W. (Kristi) Sirk of Moorefield, and Matthew W. (Karen) Sirk of Newport News, VA; one daughter, Beverly Sirk-Miller of Gloucester, VA; six grandchildren, Phillip A. (Hannah) Sirk, Adam W. Sirk, Bethany G. (Eric) Jennings, Jamie Lee Sirk, Angela (Matt) Lee, and Tiffany (Kyle) Krapes; eleven great-grandkids, Hayes, Ellis, Christian, Emily, Awbry, Jemma, Jayden, Lucas, Kylie, Cheyenne, and Gauge.
Funeral Services will be conducted 11:00 AM Friday, November 6, 2026, at Duffey Memorial Methodist Church, 100 North Elm Street, with Pastors Mark Flynn and Mike Funkhouser officiants. Interment will follow at Olivet Cemetery, Moorefield, WV. The family will receive friends from 5-7 PM Thursday at the Funeral Home.
