Walter Ellsworth Lathe, age 99 of J C Markwood Road, Purgitsville, WV, passed away Wednesday morning, August 11, 202,1 at the Grant Memorial hospital in Petersburg, WV. Born on July 31, 1922, in Baltimore, MD, he was a son of the late Harry Edward Lathe and Mary Elizabeth Sang Lathe. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by seven siblings making him the last member of his immediate family. Walter was a US Army Veteran of World War II and was involved in the D-Day invasion.
Surviving is his wife of 72 years, Lillian Kraft Lathe; a daughter Sharon (Austin) Vosloh of Purgitsville, WV; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Per his wishes, he has been cremated and there will be no public service at this time.
