Wanda Jean Crites

WANDA JEAN CRITES, age 85, passed away on Monday, August 22, 2022, at her home in Manassas, VA. 

Born on October 4, 1936, at Rig, West Virginia she was a daughter of the late Kenneth Crites and Eula Grace Eye Crites. Wanda (Jean) married Adam Crites, Jr. in 1953, and started their life together on a farm in Moorefield, WV and moved to Virginia about 10 years later.  They shared 60 happy years together until Adam’s passing in July 2013. 

She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother.  She was dedicated to her family and spent her life caring for her home, husband and children as well as providing childcare to many children throughout the years.

Wanda’s strong will and determination served her well throughout her life especially as she battled multiple health issues in her later years.  She was loved and admired and by all who knew her, an inspiration to her family and friends, and she will be deeply missed. 

She is survived by four sisters - Leeanna Hambleton, Phyllis Taylor, Joan Simmons, Margaret Dayton, two brothers - Bruce Crites, Wayne Crites, four children - Karen Parker, Kathy Vaillancourt, and husband Glen, Eric Crites and wife Lisa, and Michelle Crites, 7 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren. 

Funeral Services will be held beginning at 11:00 AM, Saturday, August 27, 2022, at the Rig Assembly of God Church, 10 Queens Drive, Moorefield, WV with Pastor Brad Taylor officiant. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until time of services at 11:00 am at the church. Interment will follow at Crites-Eye Family Cemetery. Due to the current COVID-19 recommendations, wearing of masks and social distancing by individuals unvaccinated is recommended.
