Wayne Brooks Hefner

Wayne Brooks Hefner, age 78 of Hill Top Drive, Moorefield, WV, passed away Thursday evening, August 9, 2012 at the Grant County Nursing Home in Petersburg, WV. Born October 1, 1933 in Moorefield, WV, he was the son of James B. & Angie B. (Crites) Hefner. He was a US Army veteran of the Korean War, a member of the John M. Golliday Post #64 American Legion, a member of the Moorefield Church of the Brethren, a member of the Moorefield Lodge #29 A.F. & A.M.; a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of the Potomac Valley Shrine Club. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty June (Smith) Hefner in March 1992. A brother Robert also preceded him in death. Surviving is his wife; Betty (Combs) Branson Hefner; two daughters by marriage; Sherry Earle of Petersburg, WV and Tammy Damron (husband Scott) of Huntington, WV, a brother, Charles Hefner of Moorefield, WV; a sister, Gelia Ours of Moorefield, WV; four grandchildren; Emily, Jesse, Ryan and Lexi and many special nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be conducted 2:00 PM Sunday, August 12, 2012 at the Moorefield Church of the Brethren with Pastors Russell & Lucy Webster and Harold Garber officiating. Interment will follow with Military Graveside Rites accorded by the Moorefield Veteran?s Honor Guard and Masonic Graveside Rites accorded by Moorefield Lodge # 29 A F & A M at the Maple Hill Cemetery, Petersburg, WV. The family will receive friends from 5 ? 8 PM Saturday at the Fraley Funeral Home Chapel, 107 Washington St., Moorefield.
