Maxine Constable

Zella “Maxine” Constable, age 90, passed away peacefully, Friday morning, February 16, 2024, at the E.A. Hawse Healthcare Center in Baker, WV. Born in McNeill, WV on November 19, 1933, Maxine was the cherished daughter of the late Carl Brooks Smith and Bertha Frances Ratliff Smith. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Stanley Milford Constable, and her sister, Janet Miley.

A skilled cook for the Hardy County Schools, Maxine's culinary talents delighted many over the years. Together with her husband, she also dedicated herself to their farm. In her moments of leisure, she found joy in tending to her garden, reveling in the beauty of flowers, and indulging in word search puzzles and classic Western movies.

Left to cherish her memory is her loving daughter, Brenda K. (Tommy) Miller of Moorefield, WV; granddaughters Pamela K. (David) Fitzwater and Crystal L. (Wilfred) Clarke; as well as her two adored great-granddaughters, Bethany and Savannah.

Funeral services to honor Maxine's life will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, February 22, 2024, at the Fraley Funeral Home Chapel, located at 107 Washington Street. Pastor Russell Webster will be leading the service. Following the ceremony, Maxine will be laid to rest at the Asbury Cemetery, situated on N River Road, Baker, WV.

The family will warmly welcome guests on Wednesday from 5 – 7 PM at the funeral home and encourage all those touched by Maxine's life to join them in bidding her a fond farewell. May her memory be a blessing forevermore.
